Small note: Pastor mentioned in his Easter message, “If each one take care of our hearts, the church is alive. Similarly, if each one in Shomerim, takes care and do their daily devotion, then Shomerim will stay alive. May we not be the first to resurrect at the 2 nd coming of the Lord! =p (if u remember the joke Pastor mentioned).

:: What is the Purpose? ::

Watching a flim show might be a normal thing to do for some people during the Chinese New Year period. However, there is quite a few having strong conviction not to watch film at cinema. But I suppose some of us don't mind to watch it together at a home theatre, especially this movie relates us to Christians faith - "Facing the Giants".

I remembered watching "Remember the Titans" a few years back in my army camp, I am guessing the camp commandant hoping to use it as a motivational film to unite the reservists for the demanding ATEC (Army Tactical Efficiency Competency) Test in the following week. All the reservists are from all walks of life, and you can imagine not just people from different races or cultures, but people from different educational backgrounds, people who are diverse in many ways, people who probably would not otherwise ever meet and might not want to spend time with each other. BUT, we just got stuck together in the camp, with the stink uniform, smelly socks and heavy machine guns. The Titians - the American footballers were made up of whites and blacks, and their head coach is an American African, Denzel Washington - awesome combination, isn't it? Everybody might have guessed the ultimate outcome of the show as it always be. However, I had not regretted to stay throughout the show and watch with my fellow army friends. During the process, while watching the football team overcome their several difficulties and eventually differences, my platoon-mates cheers their victory together. You can also probably guess how is our ATEC result. :)

That was an amazingly motivating show, but how is this "Giants" different from the "Titans"? No, we are not watching the young David fighting against the giant Golitah. Alas, I am persuaded to let you figure out what does the show leads your appreciation to.

My another intention is to write about the thoughts of the coach Grant when he was thinking hard on the "Purpose of the Football Team". When the college lecturer Larry, whom always encourages his son to trust God in all his endeavours, pointed out some observations to Grant -the depressed coach begins to think harder and seek God's direction. "He battles with fear and failure as he searches for the purpose and meaning in his life."

I would say that he must have been working real hard even before he was led into this thinking, he trained the team hard, scolded them even harder when they lost the game. He was so stressed up that not a child had been conceived throughout their 4 or 5 years of marriage life. Finally, when he was led to think it through calmly with his heart and soul, in seeking God's favor, he begins to realize the missing puzzle.

This film may show us different perspective of a Christian faith, but one principle within applies to all of us. Would you like to find out yourself?
