:: Are we followers or pretenders? ::
"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour" - Ephesians 5:1-2
Dear Shomerim,
How are we today? I guess we're doing very well in our lives. Some of us have career in life while some still studying very hard in their schools. Socially, we gel very well with each other and never fails to bring a smile home after every outing or "jalan jalan". Practically, some of us are working hard to help one another lives and studies: some provided math hospitals and some planned for meet-up with brethren for meal to encourage him or her. Internally, we do not have any issue against each other. Or perhaps there is but it is confidential and is supposedly to be dealt within the two. As a whole, we look very well.
Psalms 10:4 - "The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts."
Basic interpretation of this verse tells us that the wicked does not have God in all his thoughts.
Lets ask ourselves. Do we have God in all our thoughts? Does our actions reflect the truth of God? Does our thoughts and heart encompass around the love of God? In work place, do we remember God more than our colleagues? Do we, in all our thoughts, strive to please God and plan a "one-activity per day" to please God? Are we working hard to bring our friends and loved ones to Christ?
In our studies, do we strive to give our best to our Lord? Have we SINCERELY and TRUTHFULLY given our best to God? That when we pray, we can say "Lord, those times that you have given to me to study and fulfill my responsibilities, I have given all my best. And at times when my flesh is weak and I feel lazy, you have given me strength and discipline."
If your answer to one of the many questions is "no", than you're not well. It means that God is not in your thoughts in that particular area of life.
The wicked does not have God in all his thoughts. And the saints have God in all his thoughts. Let me ask you and ask ourselves a simple question, "what is the percentage of having God in your thoughts in life?" Yes, we do our devotions and at times we fail to do so. But touching your heart and tell God whether you have really place Him in all your thoughts?
Are we the wicked or the saints? You know the answer for yourself. If we call ourselves christians, and we exhibit the attributes of the wicked ones by not putting God in all our thoughts, aren't we just mere pretenders? Yes we are.
Now the crucial part: can we stand before God and tell Him that we HAVE GIVEN OUR BEST to fight the sinful nature and always put God as first priority in our lives and thoughts? That we acknowledge our weakness and ask God for grace and strength by faith? "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." - Hebrews 11:6
Are we followers of God? Perhaps you're measuring the balance between your work life/studies and your walk with God now. You might be thinking, "I have lots of things in life and I believe that God will understand me." Or perhaps "I have studied very hard" when our self studying time is not even half of our sleeping time.
Dear Shomerim, it is time to wake up. In march, ebenezer will be inaugurated and shomerim will become smaller. People are fainting and are discouraged in lives. And DO YOU STILL THINK THAT WE'RE DOING VERY WELL now?
In your life, start doing something for God. Work towards the ability to have God in all your thoughts.
Pray for one another. We are in a stage of spiritual delinquency and stagnancy. Just like the world economy. Everyone is preparing some stimulus or resilience plans to curb the economic situation. What is our plan in curbing our spiritual situation? An article in the recent newspaper highlighted that no nation without a plan is able to survive the deepest declination in the economic crisis in time to come. What is our plan? Our deepest declination has yet to come and is
VERY NEAR.
