Small note: Pastor mentioned in his Easter message, “If each one take care of our hearts, the church is alive. Similarly, if each one in Shomerim, takes care and do their daily devotion, then Shomerim will stay alive. May we not be the first to resurrect at the 2 nd coming of the Lord! =p (if u remember the joke Pastor mentioned).

:: Examination on the Da Vinci Code ::

On 22nd September 2004, a major discussion broke out in the Heresies Ancient and Modern class regarding the book "Da Vinci Code" written by Dan Brown. The students were in a heat of battling for the truth. I was approached by my friends concerning this issue. I do hope this article will be edifying and helpful for you, and your friends.

Leonardo Da Vinci, a man born during the Renassiance, was an artist, philosopher, and a devout Roman Catholic. His famous works are the painting of the "Mona Lisa" and the "Lord's Supper". As some of you in the 70's would recall of a chinese song, depicting Mona Lisa as a real figure. That's beside the point of our discussion. The "Lord's Supper" painting was done in a secret involvement with the Roman Catholics. Why is it so?

Take a look at the "Lord's Supper" painting done by Da Vinci. As the Bible says, "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and GAVE IT to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;" (Matthew 25:27). Interestingly, the Bible described Jesus passing the Cup during the Lord's Supper to His disciples. But, in the Da Vinci painting, it is not so. If you notice that it was painted with 13 cups. Jesus did not took the "cupS", but the cup. And from henceforth, the issue regarding the Da Vinci code arose in the midst of our era.

In Chapter 55 of the Da Vinci code book, there is a narration between two persons, namely, Sophie and Sir Leigh Teabing. In the course of our discussion in the college, we rose our opinions and disagreement regarding this book. Let us examine closely what does this book has for the world. Is it for the good? Or is it for the bad?

In Chapter 55, page 249 of the Da Vinci code written by Dan Brown, there is a question. "What is the Holy Grail?" The Holy Grail is the cup used by our Lord Jesus Christ during the Lord's Supper. It is stated that Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the keepers of the secret of the Holy Grail. And he hid the clues in his art. That simply explain the existance of the painting of the Lord's Supper.

One of the four major points which the students disagreed in this book is:"The Bible did not arrive by fax from heaven....The Bible is a product of man..." (page 250)

"The Bible did not arrive by fax from heaven....The Bible is a product of man..."Dan Brown believes that the Bible is a product of man. The explanation he gave was that the Earliest Bible written by faithful men of God did not include the "Christ" into the name "Jesus". In other words, he believes that during the first century, writers of the Bible did not believe that Jesus was the "Christ", "The Messiah", "The God". In this major point, it can be opened up into one sub point, namely,
    (a) The Bible is a product of man.

The Bible is not a product of man. The Philosophical argument in this subtle Da Vinci Code book has infiltrated many of the fundamental churches, causing them to deny the sufficiency of the Bible. The Bible declares that "All Scriptures is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16). Likewise, the Bible also says "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2 Peter 1:21) Also, one who believes that the Bible is a product of man has the presupposition in denying the perfect Preservation of the Holy Scripture. Nothing can be further from the truth. - Daniel Koh

p.s. I wrote this in respond to Dr. Khoo's question brought up in the class. I hope you guys will find it helpful in explaining the subtle heresies in the Da Vinci Code Book. Thanks and God bless! :)
