:: VPP. An important doctrine. ::

Regarding the sermon preached by Elder Khoo Peng Kiat, there are some things need to clarify. He mentioned that the debate regarding the Bible issue is not a important issue at all in the Christian circles, or rather limited to the BP movement only. It will not affect our salvation, as this is what he said. He said, as by God's grace my memory can extend to, that the doctrine of VPP is like the baptism. More water, less faith. Less water, more faith. And also, he mentioned that the doctrine of VPP is like the debate between Pre-Trib, Mid-Trib, and Post-Trib.

Conversative Christian, or rather fundamentalist as we coined it in the American context, believes in Absolute Truth. And whatever is not written in the Word of God, is hidden by God Himself. The doctrine of VPP is an important doctrine. In the case of Baptism. It is not stated in the Bible that Immersion is a must, the true way, and the only right way. But rather, there are variation which we can access to and execute it righteously. In the case of Pre-Trib, Mid-Trib, and Post-Trib. Scholars, professors and Bible College students have argued and debate about this issue. The conclusion is that God revealed all the truth to us in the Bible. It does not contradict each other. It is our human finite mind that is unable to interpret and exegete the whole Bible. What more those professors who is highly educated with two doctorate degree, yet faith is an cut-out option for him or her?

But the doctrine of VPP is different. It has stated clearly in the Bible that every jot and tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all be fulfilled (Matthew 5:18). Every jot (Yodh) and the tittle (The tiny line that ejects out at the top right of the hebrew letter, "daleth") shall not pass away, till the Word of God has been fulfilled. There is no variation. There is not a verse that says the Bible has mistakes. It is important because it will affect our salvation. As Dr. Khoo would kindly put it this way, "If the foundation of our faith has been shaken, are you sure of your salvation that is clearly written in the Word of God?" In other words, if our foundation, which is the Word of God, is shaken, having mistakes, how are we sure of our salvation? Where is the trust? Do we need human minds and intellectual scholars to judge the Bible? To tell us whether the Bible has mistake? God forbid!

If I'm a weak Christian, I will asked the preacher who preached the Bible has mistakes today, "Are you sure that the Bible says about my salvation is correct?" And the preacher would display the scholarly explanation, and convince the weak-minded human. And what happen if the weak-minded person asked, "Hath God said?" If we believe that the Bible has mistakes because man tells us so, it means our faith is on man. If we believe that the Bible has no mistakes, as the Bible clearly and loudly declares. so is our faith is in our Lord Jesus Christ. Who is on the Lord's Side? Is this an important issue? Definitely it is important!
